For Thai nationals who are either visiting or relocating to the U.K. one of the main concerns will be how they adapt to the food.

We all know how much Thai’s love to eat! Below we will look at five local foods that you will love!

Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding

This is known as a traditional Sunday lunch, and is one where the family get together to spend some quality time with their loved ones.

While you will be familiar with beef you will probably not know about Yorkshire pudding’s.

They are made with flour, eggs, and milk and they are cooked in the oven until they rise.

The beef is cooked slowly in the oven for around two hours, and when it is cooked it is extremely tender.

Add vegetables and gravy to this dish and it tastes absolutely delicious!

Toad-in-the-hole

No, this is not a cooked toad! This dish consists of sausages which are added to Yorkshire pudding and again it is cooked in the oven.

When ready to eat you simply add gravy. This simple dish is very easy to make.

Fish and Chips

When visiting the U.K. and particularly the seaside you really must taste the fish and chips.

The fish is usually cod, haddock, or plaice although lots of other varieties are available.

The fish is deep fried as are the chips.

It is quite common to take this dish away and either eat it as you walk along the seafront or enjoy it at home with a refreshing cup of English tea.

Ploughman’s Lunch

This is a popular dish which is served in pubs. It is based around what a ploughman working in the fields would take with him for his lunch.

It consists of cheese, pickled onion, pickle, and salad.

You will find it goes down really well with a glass of dark English beer which is known as ‘bitter’ or ‘real ale’, or a glass of cold white wine.

Shepherds’ Pie

This is another traditional dish which is made with minced lamb, vegetables, and gravy. It is then topped off with mashed potato.

Once prepared you simply pop it in the oven, and when it is cooked it is served with vegetables such as carrots and broccoli. You will find this is a really filling dish.

Food for thought!

Please do not think British cuisine is boring! You have some excellent choices, and while it takes longer to cook than Thai food you will find the wait is well worth it!
